Lambert Leo Heiman

Seneca, Kansas

05/12/1940 - 11/17/2020

Lambert L. Heiman, 80, of Seneca, died on November 17, 2020 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca, after being transferred from Life Care Center.

Lambert was born on May 12, 1940, in Axtell, Kansas the son of Frank and Josephine Buessing Heiman. He attended school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in St. Benedict. After he was out of school Lambert helped his father on the farm; he joined the U.S. Army in April 25, 1962. He was discharged on April 24, 1964 at the rank of SP4 (E-4) (T). After his military duty he was employed by Elwin Haug as a heavy Equipment Operator. He later owned his own business as a soil conservationist. In addition, he was employed by Nemaha County as the Superintendent of the Road and Bridge Crew. He also maintained the roads for the Mitchell Township for many years.

He married Sonja Menkins; they had a daughter, Kristin. They later divorced. In the year of 1985, he married Sharon Fund Shumaker of Wetmore, she survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Josephine Buessing Heiman; his daughter, Kristin Daugherty on February 21, 2017; sisters; JoAnn Lierz in 2018, Henrietta Quaney in 2017; and a brother, Frank Heiman Jr. in 2013.

Lambert is survived by his sisters, Loyola Sudbeck and Carol Lohmann both of Seneca, Rose Mary McKay of Kansas City, Missouri, Grace Rottinghaus of Lee Summit, Missouri, and Ellen Westerhaus of Junction City; step-son David Shumaker of Wetmore; and a step-daughters; Janelle Walters of Wamego and Stacey Bever of Franklin, Tennessee

 

There will be no visitation/rosary due to COVID. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Benedict, KS at 10:30 a.m. on November 21, 2020, with Father Regie Saldanha officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, St. Benedict, KS. Full Military honors will be provided

 

Memorials may be given for Nemaha County Training Center.
