Leta R. Tangeman, 77, of Seneca, KS, died Saturday, August 16, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
She was born April 13, 1926, in Seneca, the daughter of Anthony and Rose Vondenkamp Henry. She graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul High School in Seneca in 1944. Following school, she worked for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, and then for a bomber aircraft plant in Kansas City doing clerical work.
On September 10, 1945, she married Wilfred J. Tangeman at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict. They lived and farmed in the St. Benedict community until December of 1993 when they moved to Seneca.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church in Seneca. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Church and a past president of the Altar Society in St. Benedict. She was a leader for the Hustler 4-H Club for eight years.
Survivors besides her husband Wilfred of the home are two sons, Roy Tangeman of Anamosa, IA, and Richard Tangeman of Topeka; two daughters, Wanda Lyon of Lawrence, KS and Karen Brinker, Leawood, KS; four brothers, Linn Henry of Sabetha, KS, Gene Henry of Independence, MO, Paul Henry of Seneca, and Bill Henry of Wiley, TX; two sisters, Dorothy Olberding of Seneca and Joan Klier of Ocala, FL; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 19, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in St. Benedict. A rosary will be prayed at 2 PM Monday, with a vigil prayer service at 7 PM Monday, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given for Sts. Peter & Paul School Building Fund or St. Mary’s Cemetery, and sent in care of the family.
