Marjorie I. Allison

Marjorie I. Allison, of Seneca, KS, died early Sunday morning, June 29, 2008 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca just two days after her 90th birthday.

Marjorie was born on June 27, 1918 the daughter of Fredrick and Adelaide Clement Gugelman in rural Bern, KS. She attended school in the Bern area and graduated from Bern High School in 1936.

On May 11, 1941, she married Glenn Allison at Bern. They lived on the family homestead north of Seneca, where they farmed and raised livestock for 42 years. In 1977, they moved to Seneca. The couple enjoyed 45 years of marriage before Glenn’s death on April 23, 1987.

She was an active member of Friedens United Church of Christ north of Seneca, and the Burnt Sugar Cake she donated each year for their Ice Cream Social will be missed. Marjorie was involved in the community and was active in Women’s Fellowship, Bible School, and the Nemaha County Historical Society in Seneca. Her other interest were card parties, gardening, and sewing.

Survivors are her son Richard (and wife Diane) of Seneca; her three daughters, Jane (and husband Ken) Vandruff of Burke, VA, Cathy (and husband Louis) Meyer of Protem, MO, and Susan (and husband Larry) Pace of Peters Creek, AK; sister, Mildred Tegtmeier of Pawnee City, NE; sister-in-law, Opal Gugelman of Sabetha; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Florence Brunner and Hazel Strahm, and an infant sister Viola; and her brothers, Merle “Jack,” Alvin, Ray and Bill Gugelman.

The funeral service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 5, at Friedens United Church of Christ. Before the funeral service, she will lie in state at the church at 9:30 AM. The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 PM on Friday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, where she will lie in state after 8 AM on Friday.

Memorial donations in Marjorie’s memory may be left for Friedens Church or the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital Health Care Campaign.
