Mark A. Haas, 55, of Kansas City, Kansas, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.

Mark was born on February 9, 1959 to William H. and Miriam Sue Cassaday Haas in Arkansas City, Kansas.

Dues to a disability, at four years old he went to live at Winfield State Hospital in Winflield, Kansas; then to the Parsons State Hospital & Training Center in Parsons, Kansas. He also lived for a time in Lawrence, Kansas. Most recently he made his home at Community Living Opportunity in Merriam, Kansas.

Mark had a deep love for listening to music, often for hours on end; he also enjoyed playing the piano. He was an attentive caretaker of plants at his living facitlity, and took great pride in whatever he did.

He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Haas on September 25, 2000; a sister, Linda Jordan in 2006; and a nephew, David R. Wiltfong, Jr. on March 12, 2007.

Survivors are his mother Sue Haas of Seneca; five brothers, Dan Haas of Overland Park, Kansas, Charles Haas of Plano, Texas, John and Fritz Haas, both of Seneca, and Steven Haas of Alabama; a sister, Kathie Wiltfong of Seneca; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 23, at the Seneca City Cemetery.
