Mary Elizabeth Buessing Skoch, 89, Seneca died Monday morning, November 24, 2014 at Life Care Center in Seneca.
Mary was born on April 26, 1925 at home, to Barney and Elizabeth Sextro Buessing. She attended school in Baileyville, graduating from the 8th Grade.
On April 26, 1945, she married Elmer John Skoch at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. They lived and worked the family farm until they retired to Seneca in November of 1988. Mary worked at Conoco Gas Station and Knights of Columbus Club Room, where she was a “Star” pie baker.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca and St. Ann’s Altar Society. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Her pride and joy was her flowers and yard.
She is survived by her five daughters, Betty (Gene) Schraad of Seneca, Judy (Jerry) Osterhaus of Seneca, Cathy (John) Farrell of Frankfort, Patty (Jim) Hasenkamp of Burchard, Nebraska, and Barb (Jim) Bille of Bonner Springs; siblings;17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer on March 10, 2007; a grand-daughter, Karen Esslinger on October 24, 2012; and great-granddaughter, Ariel E. Esslinger and great-great-granddaughter, Shawna Brook Esslinger, both on January 26, 2007; brothers, August, Leo, Andrew, Henry, Alfred and Sylvester; and sisters, Rose Kramer, Lena Broxterman, Theresa Dowell and Josephine Heiman.
Rosaries are 2 & 7 P.M. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 26th at 10 A.M. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
