Mary M. Dalsing

Mary M. Dalsing, 85, of Seneca died on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Crestview Nursing & Residential Living.
Mary was born on May 10, 1928 to John and Olivia Knipp Claas, in Tipton, Missouri. Olivia passed away shortly after Mary’s birth. Mary grew up in the Tipton community and helped on the family farm until she graduated from Tipton High in 1946. In 1950, Mary moved to Seneca, Kansas where she met and married Kenneth Dalsing on February 6, 1951 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The couple resided in the city of Seneca. Kenny and Mary celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Mary enjoyed many of her children’s formative years caring for them at home. In later years, she became employed at Crestview Manor; at JCPenney until the closing of the store and at Shelter Insurance before she retired.
Mary was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society. She enjoyed playing cards with family, ceramics, tending flowers and bowling on a league team. She sewed many articles of clothing for her family over the years and she loved to try new recipies.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; daughters, Nancy (Dan) Hermreck of Lawrence, Kansas, JoAnn (Dan) Wempe, Patricia (Shelton) Jones both of Seneca; sons, Wayne (Cindi) Dalsing of Yorkville, Illinois and Bruce (Andrea) Dalsing of Oswego, Illinois; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Catherine Schreck; brothers, Richard, Harold, Louis, Ed, Arthur, Charles, David; by a grandson, Christopher Wempe on May 12, 2008; and by a great-granddaughter, Olive Fleming on March 6, 2014.
A Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday, April 15th 6 PM at Lauer Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at1 PM at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, with burial in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the local charity, Coins for a Cause which is assistance to local cancer patients.
