Mildred A. “Millie” Stallbaumer, 78, of Seneca, KS, died Thursday morning, August, 31, 2006, at her home. She had battled a respiratory illness for five years.
She was born June 28, 1928, at Baileyville, the daughter of Allie J. and Irene Hammes Koelzer. Mildred attended Dewey School for a year and in 1947 graduated from Baileyville High School. She was employed by the Meyer Grocery Store in Baileyville. Following high school, she was employed at the PMA Office until 1951.
On March 28, 1951, she married Kenneth Stallbaumer at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. He survives of the home. They farmed and operted a dairy near Centralia until 1959 when they moved to a farm northwest of St. Benedict. In 1991 they retired and moved into Seneca.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church in Seneca, the St. Mary’s Altar Society in St. Benedict, the Seneca Square Dance Club, the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital Guild, the Guild Pitch & Bridge Club, and the Nemaha County Historical Society.
Mildred also volunteered at the Sts. Peter & Paul Mission Center.
Survivors besides her husband Kenneth are four sons, Gerald “Jerry” and Randall Stallbaumer, both of Seneca, John Stallbaumer of Topeka, and Lynn Stallbaumer of Sabetha; a daughter, Carol Rilinger of Waynesboro, VA; three brothers, Regis Koelzer of Axtell, Elmer and Gilbert Koelzer, both of Baileyville; four sisters, Leona Bergman and Eileen Koelzer, both of Baileyville, Laverne Uphaus of Topeka, and Audrey Mueting of Seneca; 19 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Richard (infant); and two sisters, Marceil Haverkamp on March 18, 1998, and Evelyn Heiman on December 22, 2001.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM Saturday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Friday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given for the Nemaha County Historical Society, and sent in care of the family.
