Mildred M. Haverkamp

Mildred M. Haverkamp, 89, of Seneca, Kansas, died on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Life Care Center in Seneca.
Mildred was the only child of Vincent John and Ernestine Mary Dalsing Wilhelm; she was born on January 21, 1933 on a farm near Kelly, Kansas. She attended St. Bede’s Catholic Grade School through the 10th grade. She was a dedicated daughter and helped her parents on the farm until the day she got married.
On February 11, 1958 she married Vernus E. Haverkamp at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. The couple made their home on the Haverkamp homestead, where both lived until their deaths. Vernus’s great-grandfather, Henry Haverkamp first homesteaded the property; making Vernus and Mildred the fourth generation to live and work the farm. The couple celebrated 58 years of marriage before Vernus’s death on March 16, 2016.
Mildred was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was not afraid of hard work, and he took great pride polishing her hardwood floors to make them shine. She loved to raise chickens, something she did until the end; she also loved to have a big garden and can her own produce. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress and gardener. She enjoyed collecting dolls and making flower arrangements for special occasions for other people.
She is survived by her sons, Lynn (Sandy) Haverkamp of Home, Kansas, Wayne Haverkamp of Lawrence, Kansas, Arlen Haverkamp and Glen (Kandy) Haverkamp both of Seneca, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Jeremiah Joseph Haverkamp on May 3, 1987.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given in Mildred’s memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, sent in care of the family.
