Philip "Toby" Tangeman
Centralia, Kansas
12/14/1954 - 11/20/2023
Philip “Toby” J. Tangeman, 68, of Centralia, Kansas lost his battle against cancer on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia.
Toby was born on December 14, 1954, in Quebec, Canada; and at four months of age was adopted by Vincent and Angela Tangeman. Toby graduated from Centralia High School in 1973 and then attended Maur Hill in Atchison.
He loved farming and returned and worked hand in hand with his father farming and raising cattle. After Vincent’s death in 2004 Toby continued to farm up until his retirement.
Toby enjoyed attending local sporting events. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1769, Ponce De Leon 4th degree, he helped with the Knights of Columbus Bingo and worked on the dance crew for many years. He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He also enjoyed socializing at the local coffee shop.
Toby is preceded in death by his father, Vincent on February 21, 2004; his mother, Angela on April 7, 2020; and his sister, Marilyn Bowder on December 26, 1985.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM on Tuesday, November 21st, at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
