Randy R. Grauer

Seneca, Kansas

01/11/1957 - 12/25/2018

Randy Ray Grauer, age 61, a prominent Seneca business man, who owned and operated Freddy’s Pizza Palace, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.

Randy was born on January 11, 1957, in Marysville, Kansas, to George “Butch” and Alberta “Red” (Coffman) Grauer. Randy grew-up around the area—living in Marysville, Sabetha, and Seneca. He graduated from Nemaha Valley High School in 1975 where he enjoyed playing football.

Four years later, on October 13, 1979, Randy married Janice Heideman at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Randy and Janice had two children together, Maranda and Tara.

An entrepreneur, Randy owned and operated several businesses throughout his life. Following high school, Randy purchased Randy’s Standard Service. He then worked for his father-in-law, George Heideman, at Heideman Locker, which Randy later took over and renamed Seneca Meat Market. Continuing in the butchering business, Randy also founded Wild Thing Processing, where he butchered deer and other game. But Randy did not just butcher meat—he could cook it too. Randy and his wife Janice ran Freddy’s Pizza Palace for two stints between 1983 and the present, for a total of 25 years. In addition to his own businesses, Randy worked at Haverkamp’s Grocery in Centralia and Big B Thriftway in Seneca.

Outside of work, Randy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren: Dylann, Mykal, Emersyn, and Ryder. Randy was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who never backed down from a challenge. A man of many talents, Randy also liked to work on antique cars, motorcycles, and go-carts. Randy was known to enjoy a “occasional” Budweiser and some may remember his monkey, which often tagged along with him. Taken too soon, Randy will be greatly missed.

Randy was proceeded in death by both of his parents; his father-in-law, George Heideman and his brother, Terry Grauer.

Randy is survived by his wife, Janice of 39 years, his daughters, Maranda (Lg) Novotny of Seneca and Tara (Andrew) Lohmann of Topeka, and four grandchildren.

Memorials are COINS for a Cause and or the American Legion sent in care of the family.

Rosaries will be at 2 and 7 P.M. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Lauer Funeral home in Seneca.

Memorials are COINS for a Cause and or the American Legion sent in care of the family.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials are COINS for a Cause and or the American Legion sent in care of the family.

Janice and family, so sorry to hear of Randy’s passing. We remember with gratefulness his kindness toward our family when mom died. He always came out to greet us when we went to Freddy’s ….as a neighbor when we were younger, I remember some times, but not many since he and Terry were younger. But I know my younger brothers could tell numerous stories to make us laugh . Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences for the loss of your precious loved one. Please find comfort in knowing that Jehovah hates death; he views it as an enemy. (1 Corinthians 15:26) He has a longing to conquer that enemy, to undo death by means of the resurrection. He yearns to bring back those who are in his memory and to see them live on earth again.—Job 14:14, 15.
