Regis L. Heiman

Regis Leo Heiman, 82, Seneca, formally of Topeka died November 20, 2014 at Crestview Nursing and Residential Living in Seneca.

Regis was born October 2, 1932, on a farm near St. Benedict, Kansas to Edward and Bertha Lierz Heiman. He attended St Mary’s Catholic School in St. Benedict. During his youth Regis helped his father on the family farm. Regis served in the National Guard with a rank of SP2, from February 22, 1956 to July 1, 1957; he was assigned to Battery “A” 154th FA Bn his home station was in Sabetha.

Regis married Evelyn Koelzer on May 1, 1954 at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. The couple made their home in Lincoln, Nebraska for a short time before moving to Axtell, Kansas. The couple later moved to and farmed the Fannie Rice Farm north of Seneca; before purchasing a farm in 1964 in Onaga, Kansas. The couple raised their family and had a Dairy Farm at that location until 1977. Regis was commuting to work in Topeka; consequently in 1981 the couple moved to Topeka. Regis retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company Plant in Topeka after 27 years of employment.

Regis was a member of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Topeka. He was a member of the American Legion Post #400, the Knights of Columbus #2608 and a member Knights of Columbus State Third Degree Team.

Regis was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn on December 22, 2001: and his siblings, Kenneth, John, Eddie and ordained Brother Robert O.S.B. He is survived by his children, Rick (Patty) Heiman of Burbank, Washington, Gary (Jeanette) Heiman of Seneca, Allen (Linda) Heiman of Smith Center, Kevin (Dawn) Heiman of Olathe and Cathy Heiman of Lee Summit; his siblings, Donald Heiman of Kansas City, Paul Heiman of Parachute, Colorado, Tom Heiman of Wichita and Mary Joe (Pat) Hughes of Lee Summit, Missouri; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Rosaries will be prayed at Lauer Funeral Home on Sunday, November 23rd at 2 & 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 24, 2014 at 11 AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be Tuesday, November 25th at 1 PM in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, with full military honors.

Memorials may be left in Regis’s memory to Crestview Nursing & Residential Living.
