Reva P. Olberding

Reva P. Olberding, 85, Baileyville, KS, died early Wednesday morning, December 24, 2008 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
She was born July 28, 1923 in Steinauer, NE, the daughter of Alderich J. and Barbara E. Glynn Kalin. She attended St. Anthony’s grade school and graduated as salutatorian from Steinauer High School.
On May 6, 1950 she married August Olberding, Jr. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Steinauer. The couple made their home on a farm east of Baileyville.
Reva was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville, where she played the organ, and was a member and past officer of the Altar Society. She served as the bookkeeper for Rural Water District #2 for 16 years. She belonged to the Nemaha County Historical Society and the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital Guild, both in Seneca. She was a devoted homemaker, mother and friend. Reva enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, needlework, and baking for her grandsons.
She is survived by her husband August of the home; a son, Glen and wife “Rhonda” Olberding of Noblesville, IN; a daughter, Becky and husband “Bill” Ronnebaum of Seneca; two sisters, Rita Lempka of Sterling, NE and Mary Goracke of Beatrice, NE; and two grandsons, John and Nathan.
She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Gattermeyer.
Funeral mass will be 2 PM Saturday, December 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville. A rosary will be prayed at 3:30 PM Friday, December 26, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Burial will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Seneca.
