Roger Lee Malcolm

Roger Lee Malcom, 55, of Axtell, died Monday, May 22, 2017 at his home in Axtell.
Roger was born on December 19, 1961 to Leo Lloyd and Betty Lou Hartsook Malcolm. He grew up in Axtell and attended Axtell schools; graduating High School in 1980. He attended Salina Vo-tech to study diesel mechanic’s; and for his first job he was employed by Martin Tractor in Topeka. He later worked as an automotive mechanic in Kansas and Colorado, until 2008. During the winters while in Colorado he worked on Pikes Peak blasting snow. Roger was employed by Home Town Lumber of Marysville; until his health declined and was forced to retire.
On October 10, 1981 Roger married Carla D. Gibson at the United Methodist Church in Axtell. Roger was a member of the Axtell Methodist Church in Axtell.
Roger loved to hunt, fish, race cars and 4-wheeling; he especially loved to take his family to the family farm near Irving, Kansas. Family time was very important to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo on February 14, 2007 and Betty on October 15, 1990.
Surviving is his wife, Carla of the home; a daughter, Jordie (Donnie) Malcolm of Kansas City, Missouri; two sons, Jared (Andrea) Malcolm of Marysville and Jake (Angela) Malcolm of Lacrosse, Kansas; a brother, Ross Malcom of Overland Park, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Owen L. Malcolm and Laynie Jo Malcolm.
Roger had requested cremation with a private service at a later date.
