Rosemary D. Haug

Rosemary Dorothy (Hochard) Haug, 92, Corning, Kansas passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, December 12, 2017, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca, Kansas.
Rosemary was born January 30, 1925, near Neuchatel, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence and Anna (Miller) Hochard. She attended a one room rural school house for grades 1-8 and graduated from Corning High School in Corning, Kansas.
Rosemary worked at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas during WWII assembling planes. She was known to some as “Rosie the Riveter”. Rosemary went on to school at Kansas State College of Agriculture and Applied Science, now Kansas State University, to obtain her teaching certificate. After college she taught school at the Grigsby one room rural school house southwest of Corning and later taught GED classes.
Rosemary Hochard and Albert Fred “Bud” Haug were united in marriage on January 30, 1946, at St. Patrick’s Church, Coal Creek, Kansas. They farmed southwest of Baileyville and in the Corning area until they retired. After retiring Bud and Rosemary cared for her mother, Anna Hochard. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 30, 2006.
Rosemary was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, St. Patrick’s Altar Society, and the Arthur Mills Post #37 of the American Legion Auxiliary in Corning. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Rosemary had a love for gardening, growing flowers, and sharing them with others. She also enjoyed family celebrations, reunions, cooking and playing cards.
Survivors include nine daughters and three sons: Mary Ann Grob, Centralia; Dorothy (Bob) Frost, Topeka; Shirley (Richard) Watkins, Goff; Margie (Louie) Boeckman, Corning; Darlene (Gene) Alexander, Topeka; Loretta (Bill) Hess, Humboldt; Lucy (Mike) Gros, Wamego; Linda (Don) Feldkamp, Seneca; Joe Haug, Wamego; Jim (Denise) Haug, Topeka; Jerry (Diane) Haug, Manhattan; Carolyn (Travis) Jones, Corning; six siblings, Irene Donahy, Frankfort; Wayne Hochard, Wetmore; Theresa (Jim) Rethman, Corning; Maurice (Joan) Hochard, Topeka; Rita (Gary) Smutny, Hoyt; Patti Smith, Topeka; sister-in-law Maxine Hochard, Tonganoxie; 63 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband Albert on March 18, 2006; parents, Clarence and Anna Hochard; brothers, Clarence Hochard Jr., and Glen Hochard; sister-in-law, Emmy Hochard; brother-in-law, Jerry Donahy; son-in-law, Robert Grob; five grandchildren, Ernest Grob, Joseph Grob, Mary Watkins, Clarence Watkins, and James Alexander; great-grandchildren, Casey Potter, Mariah Boeckman and Ava Boeckman.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2:00 and 7:00 PM Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Church in Corning, Kansas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 30, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Church with interment following in St. Patrick’s cemetery, Corning, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Church Corning, Kansas or St. Patrick’s Cemetery, and sent in care of the family.
