Theresa L. Alverson

Theresa L. Alverson, 74, of Centralia, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Onaga Community Hospital in Onaga, after a battle with cancer.
She was born on a farm near Coal Creek on September 16, 1938 to Henry A. and Cordula B. Koelzer Becker. She attended Coal Creek County School and graduated from Lillis Rural High School in 1956. She married Jesse E. Alverson in Wichita; he preceded her in death in 1979.
She worked for Sante Fe Railroad in Topeka, and then Cessna Aircraft and Boeing in Wichita. She then followed her husband in his active military posts until 1973, when she moved her family back to the Centralia community and began working for CR Industries. She retired from CR in 1980.
She enjoyed gardening, raising rabbits, knitting, making quilts and crossword puzzles. She was proud of the years she spent helping with the Food Pantry. Theresa served on the Coal Creek Cemetery Board, and kept the cemetery books.
She is survived by two sons, Ron and wife Sherri Alverson of Centralia and Pat Alverson of Bentley, Kansas; her mother, Cordula Becker of Centralia; five brothers, Leon, Clem and Daniel Becker, all of Centralia, Roger Becker of Corning and Clayton Becker of St. Joseph, Missouri; five grandchildren, Becky (Kurt) Becker, Brent (Kristan) Alverson and Brock Alverson, Braedon Alverson and Kasidee Alverson; and three great-grandchildren, Regan, Kyra and Kylie.
A rosary will be prayed at 2 PM Monday, June 10, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, with a wake service at 7 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM Tuesday, June 11, at St. Patrick’s Church in Corning. Burial will be in the Coal Creek Cemetery near Centralia.
