Virginia Eis Koelzer
Seneca, KS

Virginia Eis Koelzer, 87, of Topeka formerly of Seneca, died on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Oakley Place in Topeka.
Virginia was born on January 8, 1930 north of Humboldt, Nebraska to Frank and Frances Hynek Eis, Jr.
In 1940 the family moved to a farm near Bern, Kansas. She attended school in Bern and graduated from Bern High School in 1947. She attended K-State for a year. As a young woman, Virginia taught at Bern.
On June 23, 1949 she married Thomas H. Koelzer. They lived in Bern for before moving to Seneca in 1950. Virginia was the book keeper for Koelzer Lumber Company for several years.
Virginia was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca and the St. Ann’s Altar Society. She was a Brownie Scout Leader, a 4-H Leader, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Seneca Golf Club, Seneca Square Dancers, Red hat Society and the Our Lady Rosary Makers.
Virginia enjoyed many crafts like ceramics, stained glass, wheat weaving and making rosaries for the missions.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom on January 20, 1988; her son, Jim on September 26, 2014; and a daughter, on Joyce E. Koelzer Akers-Beljan on January 22, 2007.
Virginia is survived by a son, Rick Koelzer of Topeka; two daughters, Dr. Anita (Mark) Koelzer of Lafayette, Colorado and Nancy (Mike) Sumpter of Topeka; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren
A rosary will be prayed at 2 PM Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Monday, November 20, 2017 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.
Memorials can be given in Virginia’s memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Church and/or Midland Care Hospice, and sent in care of the family.
