Von E. Rusche, 64, of Seneca departed his earthly life on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
Von was born on September 24, 1956 to Glen E. and Eleanor Mergenmeier Rusche. He grew up in the Seneca community, showed American Quarter Horses and attended Seneca Public School. He graduated from Seneca High School with the Class of 1975. Von helped his father with his plumbing and dozing business, before going to work for A & W Asphalt Company. When Von’s father died he returned to Seneca and he and his brother Dave ran the plumbing and dozing business together for several years. In 1999, he began his employment at Koch and Company, where his was still employed at the time of his death.
He married Connie Luck and to this union two sons were born; the couple later divorced. Von married Doris Spreer on January 23, 1996 in Seneca; the couple celebrated 19 years of marriage, before Doris’s death on July 13, 2015.
Von was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, he volunteered at the Seneca Golf course where he enjoyed swinging his clubs. Von liked to travel, hunt, fish and go bowling; he also loved being a grandfather.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his father, Glen on November 12, 1994; and two brothers, James M. Rusche on August 4, 1959 and Daniel J. Rusche on June 30, 1976.
Von is survived by his mother, Eleanor Rusche of Seneca; his sons, Ryan (Kim) Rusche of Fremont, NE and Travis Rusche of Seneca; 10 grandchildren, with one on the way; his siblings, Mary Ann Spellmeier of Sabetha, Glen (Mary Ellen) Rusche of Seneca and David (Gladys) Rusche of Seneca; and a best friend, Tina Roe.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10AM on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. A visitation will be held at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Monday, June 7th from 5 to 7 PM. Burial will be in the Seneca City Cemetery.
Memorials may be left in Von’s memory to the Sons of the American Legion in Seneca, sent in care of the family.
